It began with the founder’s childhood memories of his family home in Ximending.A home carries the traces of generations past. Over the years, the founder has immersed himself in Japanese architecture, furniture, and craftsmanship, seeking an aesthetic suited to life in Taiwan.

Along the way, a question emerged: how can the beauty of those remembered spaces, together with the spirit of craftsmanship, be carried forward for generations to come?

We focus on three areas: Japanese furniture, architectural fittings, and lighting, bringing the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship and spatial aesthetics into the home.

With everyday life at the heart of our approach, we explore materials, proportions, light, and detail through curated spaces and interior design—seeking thoughtful ways to bring Japanese craftsmanship into contemporary life in Taiwan.

Rooted in the values of home and heritage, Machiya Museum carries forward the refined tradition of Japanese woodworking from generations past.

We believe beauty should not remain confined to galleries or exhibition spaces. Our aim is to bring the spirit of craftsmanship into everyday life.
